RV Furniture

RV Furniture

You have purchased your RV and you cannot wait to get on the road and join in the adventure of the RV Nation. First things first, though. You need to renovate and furnish your new home on wheels to make it the place that you want to be while you are living on the road.

It can seem a bit daunting to think about replacing your couch and any other furniture in your RV. It may be the potential cost that is off-putting, or it could be the time involved in searching for the perfect ensemble. However, making your RV a place that is comfortable with an aesthetic that you can be proud of means creating a home away from home.

If you are on the fence about getting that new couch or some other furniture for your RV, here are some reasons you should jump off and just do it!

Your furniture is falling apart

Some RV furniture is known for being cheaply made. For some reason, many RV manufacturers use materials that easily tear, even when new. The last thing you want when you start out on your adventure in RV Nation is furniture that cannot stand up to the elements and cannot stand up to being used.

Look for an RV couch that is made of leather, fabric, or vinyl. These durable materials will provide you with a couch that will last while you are on the road and beyond. Try to avoid pleather. It looks like leather but is not near as durable. Often the outer layer will separate from the inner layer and it literally starts to peel off the piece of furniture. There is no way to really fix this once it happens. It seems to happen 100%

Your couch (or anything else) is uncomfortable

No matter how long you are going to be on the road, you’re going to want furniture that is comfortable. No one wants to spend their time sitting on a couch or sleeping in a bed that feels like a rock.

One of the most frequent complaints from people who own or rent a travel trailer, fifth wheel, toy hauler or motor home is the mattress being uncomfortable. You need to test out your mattress by sleeping on it for a night or two before going on your road or camping trip. Many person’s backs have been wrecked by a bad or uncomfortable mattress. If you find your mattress to be unacceptable go to your local furniture store and check out their mattress show room. Try each mattress by laying on it for up to 15 minutes. Buy the one that seems the most comfortable to you and gives you the most support. Make sure to negotiate the furniture company takes away the existing rv mattress from you. Also, NEGOTIATE the price. Ask if they have discounts and what discounts they have. Do not be shy and spend hundreds more, just be bold and go for the discount.

When you are traveling in your RV, you need to ensure that you and your passengers will be comfortable, especially if you are going to be out during the day partaking in some physical activities. Again, when buying furniture make sure that you go see the furniture and make sure to sit on it for at least 15 minutes minimum. Does it feel good? Can you sit in it after a long day of exploring, hiking, fishing? Also, do not forget to ask what material it is made of. Avoid pleather. Ask about warranties on the furniture as well. Again, negotiate the price and ask for discounts.

If you are not totally happy with the comfort level in your RV, do yourself a favor and go check out some new furniture. Find the stuff that you love, that provides the comfort that you are going to want to make your home on wheels cozy.

You want to upgrade to a nicer aesthetic

Some used travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers and motor homes, are old and still have that “interesting” original furniture. Some have been renovated, but do not have the look that you want. Some RVs might be new yet still have a look you do not want. There is a trend right now where campers are buying “vintage” travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers and motor homes and restoring them to “new” shape. Using products they can find to return the unit to its original glory. This process can be quite fun and also rewarding. Not only personally rewarding for a job well done, but financially as well. These trailers are normally very well received, highly sought after and very expensive to buy.

Not interested in doing a full redo or rehab? Then just like at your modern unit and modernize the interior to make it look more like home. You are not stuck using only RV furniture. Many home furniture manufacturers also produce smaller furniture that is rv friendly. The main thing is making sure you can secure it so it is safe for travel. Also, day night beds are very popular in rv’s as well.

If you do not like the interior of your RV, you get to make changes. Redecorating and furnishing an RV can be a fun and creative endeavor if you let it be. Take the time to look at pictures, research RV interiors online, and decide what you want your RV to look like. There is bound to be a great couch out there in the style that you are looking for. Check out sites like www.pinterest.com or www.etsy.com to get some great ideas and even great products to use. Also, ask your camping friends on facebook. Don’t have any, go join some camping groups, ask for ideas and pictures of before and after projects. Something is going to spark your creativity and make your RV the envy of the campground.

Make your home on wheels exactly what you want it to be and it will be a place that you love.

You need more space

Older RVs tend to have less space than modern ones. If you have an older RV with the original couch and other furniture still inside, you can create more space for yourself by getting new furniture.

New rv furniture for travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers and motor homes has built in storage that is amazing, spacey and easy to access. Don’t settle for less, go for the storage you and your family require.

Make sure to map out the extra space that you want and then measure the space you have planned for furniture. That way your new couch will provide you with the extra space that you are looking for.

Do not be afraid to go to shopping on the internet for great furniture, not always RV, that you fall in love with and can comfortably afford. There are lots of great materials, fabrics, accessories, etc.

You want more storage areas

RVs come with built-in storage, yet some people need more. Full-time RVers especially need extra space to store the stuff they want to take on the road.

A lot of new RV furniture is built with a hidden storage area. Buy yourself a new couch, bench, or table that doubles as storage to make it easier to transport things when you are on the road.

It is what you want to do

Maybe you do not have any reason to get new furniture for your RV other than the simple fact that you want to. That is okay. Do it anyway.

Your RV is your home away from home. It needs to be a place that you love, with a couch that is comfortable, and that is a representation of you. Your RV needs to bring you joy. If you just want to buy some new furniture for no reason whatsoever, then do it. You will love decorating and making your RV a personal place that you call home. You work hard for your money, let it bring you joy and make you love your camper even more. Go explore the internet, look at local furniture stores, thrift shops and rv dealers. Many RV dealers have many pieces of furniture. Countertops, sinks, faucets, curtains, carpet and linoleum. Don’t over look your local rv dealer as a great resource to rehab your rv and make it your own.

Themed RV’s are a lot of fun as well and something you might want to consider. Beach themed RV’s are becoming very popular as are country RV’s. Many are taking their kids rooms and going with their favorite, movie, cartoon, character or any other passion of their child. Themes are normally very easy to complete as the products, especially for kids are easy to find and in abundance. You can go really intricate or just kind of brush the surface. Quickly you will find your children or grand children will like their camper bedroom more than their bedroom at home.

Personalize your RV and make it something that you have always wanted it to be. Create your home and get going, travelling around this RV Nation.
